This project, entitled Trash and Treasure: Collection and Sentimentality strives to be a digital art exhibition showcasing various mundane objects I’ve gathered throughout the years in a way that could be construed as artistic. Part humorous commentary about the oft leveled criticism of modern art that “anyone could do it,” part presentation on the value of sentimentality, especially as some pieces are juxtaposed against items and objects with “objective” value whether monetarily or socially, and part outlet for me to express my creative side and show off my unusual and ever-growing collecting of kitschy knickknacks and souvenirs. Ultimately the viewers is asked to consider what they view as having sentimental value, and why.
