Rescue Kitty

Christine Wheeler

.  Hello, my name is Christine and this is the story of Rescue Kitty. I found Rescue Kitty at an antique shop in Pittsburgh called Dr. Tumblety’s. I was actually there photographing a friend's wedding, I was just going ahead of time to scout out the area and check it out. I ended up walking around the shop and I saw this kitty cat sitting on a chair in the corner of the room, and I immediately fell in love with her. She reminds me of a lot of the older kitties, that I've fostered and rescued in the past. And, you know, they're just - they’re a little crunchy, but they’re still so sweet and so cute. And I just, I absolutely loved her. So I bought her, I brought her home and I gave her a special little spot on my couch where she could sit and look out the window. And when I went back to the antique shop the following week to actually photograph the wedding, there was a girl there who actually, runs the cat calls rescue in Pittsburgh, it’s a foster organization for stray cats. So I got to talking to her and it turns out she was the one who found this kitty and brought it to Dr. Tumblety’s. She had wanted to take this kitty home, but he reminded her too much of the kitties that she's rescued, and it made her sad. So she expressed to me that she hoped that whoever adopted this rescue kitty really, really loved it and was able to give it a good home. And I was so excited to tell her that I actually was the one who took this kitty home and gave it a place to sit on my couch. And she was so thrilled and it was just so sweet to me that this little rescue kitty went from one animal lover to another. And one day I hope that, you know, when I'm long gone, this rescue kitty finds her way into another shop where somebody else who has the same love of rescuing animals and fostering will find her and give her a good home.
