Beef Cubes
Natalie Weicht
.  This little jar of Wyler's beef cubes is significant to me because it is from a show that I was recently in at Duquesne called The Skin of Our Teeth, and I played one of the major characters, Sabina. And in one of my most deeply emotional scenes, I had to bring out this prop on stage and monologue dramatically about my beef cubes. Which even though it was supposed to be a very dramatic scene, was the funniest thing in the world to me. But I think more than that, the show Skin of Our Teeth was the first time that I had been involved in theater in any way in a couple years since I was in an acting program for a while and it didn't work out and I kind of lost all of my - kind of lost all of my passion for theater for a while. And so the show The Skin of our Teeth was a really - not a perfect experience, but a really restorative experience for me and kind of helped me regain some of that love for the art form that I lost a while ago. And this little silly souvenir, it's just something that means a lot that, you know, I would be able to keep it and just something, something to remind me of why I still love theater.
